CG NEWS: Rapid action against illegal sand mining, 11 trucks seized, drivers flee leaving their vehicles loaded with sand

Arvind Mishra, Balodabazar. Illegal sand excavation and transportation in the district is not stopping and sand mafias are continuously getting rich by ripping the Mahanadi river. Despite the closure of sand mines by the Mineral Department, illegal excavation and transportation of sand is continuing. On which, on the instructions of Collector Deepak Soni, Simga Tehsildar Neelmani Dubey took swift action on Friday and caught 11 sand-laden heavy vehicles. The heavy vehicle drivers left the sand-laden vehicles on the road and fled.

Tehsildar Neelmani Dubey said that after receiving instructions from District Collector Deepak Soni ji, today 11 trucks carrying illegal sand have been caught. Royalty slip of sand was not available on the spot. On which a case has been made and given to the District Collector and further action is underway. Please note that despite the sand mines being closed since June 15, illegal excavation is going on.

On Friday, the district’s in-charge minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal also lashed out at the mineral officer for illegal excavation and transportation of sand and directed the district mineral officer to bring immediate improvement in the system and take strict action against those involved in illegal excavation and transportation.
