The Governor described the ‘automatic suspension’ rule adopted by the Legislative Assembly as an amazing example of discipline and adherence to democratic norms. He presented it as a model for the legislatures of the entire country, which has been appreciated nationwide.
He said that the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly is a platform to give concrete shape to the aspirations of the people. The Governor appreciated the policies and programs of the Legislative Assembly, which have empowered the state socially, economically and culturally. He informed that continuous efforts for rehabilitation and development in Naxal-affected areas are successfully connecting the tribal communities of the Bastar region with the mainstream.
Journey from Mineral Wealth to Industrial Power
The Governor said that Chhattisgarh is the leading steel and energy producing state in the country, and he gave credit for this achievement to the visionary leadership of the state. The Governor informed that the current Legislative Assembly has 19 women legislators, which is 21.11 percent of the total members. He described this as the best example of women empowerment and appreciated the increasing role of women in the state. He bowed down to the historical, cultural and spiritual heritage of Chhattisgarh and remembered many great personalities, including Mata Shabari, Guru Ghasidas, Swami Vivekananda, Veer Narayan Singh, Minimata etc. He also said that the important years of Swami Vivekananda’s adolescent life were spent in Chhattisgarh, which contributed to his spiritual development. He said that the Silver Jubilee year gives us a new energy, and it should be our collective resolve to maintain the identity of ‘Chhattisgarhia Sable Badhiya’ (Chhattisgarh is the Best) and take the state forward as a developed Chhattisgarh with equal opportunity, all-round prosperity and cultural dignity.
