1 min read

Virendra Gahwai, Bilaspur. A petition has been filed in the High Court against the notification issued for the delimitation of Bilaspur Municipal Corporation. It has been said that the notification was issued without resolving the objections. There are many irregularities in it, so the delimitation should be cancelled and municipal elections should be held as per the previous procedure.

Former Congress MLA from Bilaspur Shailesh Pandey and four block presidents of Congress Vinod Sahu, Moti Tharwani, Javed Memon, Arvind Shukla have filed a petition in the High Court. It has been stated in the petition that due to this the people of Bilaspur city will have to face trouble and their addresses will change. Due to this there will be a need to change ration card, passport, Aadhar card and other necessary documents. This delimitation is being done without any need.

The government issued guidelines for delimitation in the entire state in June. The Congress Committee in Bilaspur opposed this because it was not appropriate to do delimitation without need. Even after this, the government issued a notification in a hurry by ignoring the claims and objections. In the petition, a stay on the notification and a demand has been made to conduct the upcoming corporation elections on the basis of the previous delimitation.
