Raipur, March 30, 2025/ Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today inaugurated the Abhanpur-Raipur MEMU train service by flagging it off via video conferencing during a program held in Mohbhatta Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh. On this occasion, Prime Minister Shri Modi dedicated four completed railway projects costing ₹2,695 crore to the nation and laid the foundation stone for 7 railway projects. This is a major step towards the development of railway facilities in Chhattisgarh and providing affordable and convenient transportation to passengers. These projects will also give new impetus to the industrial development of Chhattisgarh.
The commencement of the MEMU train between Raipur and Abhanpur will make travel affordable and easier for the general public. This train will halt at Mandir Hasaud, CBD, Kendri, and Abhanpur stations. Prime Minister Shri Modi inaugurated the third railway line laid from Rajnandgaon to Boratlav at a cost of ₹747 crore, the new railway line from Mandir Hasaud-Kendri-Abhanpur at a cost of ₹353 crore, the automatic signaling system from Durg-Raipur at a cost of ₹88 crore, as well as the 100 percent electrification of the railway network in Chhattisgarh.
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the Kharsia-Jharadih fifth railway line, Sargabundia-Madwarani third-fourth railway line, Dadhapara-Bilha-Dagori fourth railway line, Nipania-Bhatapara-Hathband fourth railway line, Bhilai-Bhilai Nagar-Durg link cabin fourth railway line, Rajnandgaon-Dongargarh fourth railway line, and Karrgi Road-Salka Road third railway line.
On this occasion, Forest Minister Shri Kedar Kashyap, while addressing the people present at a brief program organized at Abhanpur railway station, said that the development of railway facilities is important for the economic and social development of the state. The expansion of rail connectivity will open up new opportunities for employment and trade in remote areas, which will especially benefit tribal and rural areas.
Member of Parliament Shri Brijmohan Agarwal enthusiastically welcomed the MEMU train service started between Raipur and Abhanpur. He said that it would boost local trade and transportation. He urged the officials to extend the railway facilities to remote areas like Bastar, Surguja, and Jashpur in the future, so that a large part of Chhattisgarh is connected to the railway network. MLA Shri Rajesh Munat, Shri Sunil Kumar Soni, Shri Purandar Mishra, Shri Motilal Sahu, Shri Guru Khushwant Saheb, Shri Indra Kumar Sahu, Mayor Smt. Minal Choubey, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Shri Vishwadeep, Zilla Panchayat CEO Shri Kumar Bishwaranjan, and other officers and employees were also present in the program.
