Raipur: Timely custom milling of acquired paddy: Chief Minister Mr. Baghel

Bhupesh Baghel has written a letter to Union Food Minister Mr. Piyush Goyal regarding timely custom milling of paddy being procured on support price in Kharif year 2020-21 in Chhattisgarh. In the letter, he has requested to allow 26 lakh metric tonnes of Unna rice and 14 lakh metric tonnes of Arva rice in the Food Corporation of India under the Central Pool, mentioning the state’s ability of custom milling.

    Chief Minister Mr. Baghel has written in a letter to the Union Food Minister, Mr. Piyush Goyal, that the Food Corporation of India has been acquiring Arva rice along with the previous Kharif years 2016-17 and before that. Hence FCI With the requirement of the state, the surplus rice will have to be taken as arva rice along with it so that D.C.P. All the paddy acquired under the scheme can be disposed of on time and there is no loss in the maintenance of paddy. The Chief Minister has also written in the letter that the milling capacity of 400 Unna rice mills established in the state is 5.68 lakh metric tonne per month and the arva milling capacity of 1504 arva mills is 18.83 lakh metric tonne per month. Keeping this in mind, in the Kharif year 2020-21, the Food Corporation of India should be allowed to procure 26 lakh metric tons of rice and 14 lakh metric tons of Arva rice.
    It is noteworthy that the Government of India has approved the action plan to take 60 lakh metric tonnes of rice after custom milling of paddy to be procured at the support price in the Kharif marketing year 2020-21 in the state of Chhattisgarh. Of this, an estimated surplus of 40 lakh metric tons of rice will be acquired under the Central Pool in Food Corporation of India and the remaining 20 lakh metric tons (15 lakh metric tons of Arva under NFSA and 4.80 lakh metric tons of Arva under State Pool and 0.20 lakh metric tons of rice) will be procured in Chhattisgarh State Civil Supplies Corporation Limited for the requirement of PDS in the state.
