Bilaspur. The State Legal Services Authority (SALSA) has taken cognizance of the incident of arson and vandalism that took place in Balodabazar on June 10. Executive Chairman of SALSA Justice Gautam Bhaduri has given instructions to the District Legal Services Authority Balodabazar regarding providing compensation and relief to the victims.
In Balodabazar, the angry mob set fire to the SP and Collector’s office. People were beaten up and vandalised, due to which many people were seriously injured and hundreds of vehicles were burnt to ashes. The documents related to the general public kept in government offices were also burnt to ashes. Taking cognizance of the news in the electronic and print media regarding the above incident, Executive Chairman of State Legal Services Authority (SALSA) Justice Gautam Bhaduri has issued instructions to the District Legal Services Authority Balodabazar regarding providing compensation and relief to the victims.
He said that action should be taken to provide compensation and interim compensation to those who have suffered property loss and injuries in the incident of mob violence and arson. Legal aid clinics should be run in the affected area to reconstruct the valuable documents that have been destroyed in this arson.
Justice Bhaduri also directed that for settlement of claims of vehicle owners/victims of hundreds of vehicles burnt to ashes in the arson incident, coordination should be established with insurance companies and their claims should be paid as soon as possible and in appropriate cases, help of Insurance Ombudsman should also be taken. He directed that counseling should be arranged with the help of psychiatrist for the people suffering from psychological shock and depression due to the said mob violence. It should be ensured that the people injured in the incident are treated free of cost or the actual expenses incurred in their treatment should be paid as per law. District Legal Services Authority Balodabazar should provide immediate legal aid through all government and non-government agencies and supervise them.
