PM Modi Black Flag Showing Case: In the case of showing black flag to Jamshedpur-Prime Minister Narendra Modi, road jam and obstructing government work, 13 accused associated with JMM party including Jharkhand Education Minister Ramdas Soren, former MP Suman Mahato were acquitted by the court of Jamshedpur Court, Sushil Sureng, the court of Jamshedpur Court, Sushil Sooreng, the court of Sushil Surenga. In this case, one accused Badhua Oraon died. Hence his bail bond was canceled.
The case is on 24 April 2016
The case was registered at Sonari police station on 24 April 2016. On the day of the incident, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was to come to address the Kisan Sammelan held at JRD Sports Complex. That day, JMM was planned to oppose them and show a black flag by protesting in front of the gate of Sonari Airport. On getting the information, the district police had made strict security arrangements. During this time, former MPs from Kadma, Suman Mahato, Ajay Rajak and others reached behind Sonari Airport with a procession, while there were already education ministers Ramdas Soren, Ajay Rajak, Shailendra Mahato, Yogendra Kumar Nirala, Mohan Karmakar, Hemant Pathak, Babar Khan, Pawan Singh, Narottam Kumar, Latu Mahato and Jagannath Mahato. All of them were made accused.
Chargesheet and absence of witnesses
Sonari police filed a charge sheet in this case and requested to prosecute everyone. The police presented six policemen as witnesses in this case. The hearing of the case started on 18 June 2019, but during this time only one female policeman, Rupam Kumari, appeared in the court to give testimony. He refused to identify the accused. Apart from this, summons and warrants were sent several times against the other five witnesses, but they did not appear.
Court verdict
Finally, on behalf of the accused in the Jamshedpur court, preferred advocate GC Baraut Babla and Advocate Nilanjal Baraut requested to acquit the accused. The court decided to acquit all the accused due to absence of witnesses and lack of evidence in five and a half years of action. Advocate GC Baraut said that the police had registered a case for harassing his clients without any concrete reason.
