18 coaches of Howrah-Mumbai Mail derailed, people seriously injured

Ranchi | Seven people were injured when several coaches of the Howrah-Mumbai Mail going from Howrah to Mumbai derailed near the Barabambo station of the Chakradharpur railway division of South Eastern Railway in Jharkhand early today. South Eastern Railway CPRO Om Prakash Charan told UNI here that 18 coaches of the Howrah Mumbai Mail derailed in this accident, out of which 16 coaches were passenger coaches, one pantry coach and another one passenger coach.

NDRF team was sent to the spot for relief and rescue

He told that seven people were injured in this accident in which two people are seriously injured. Railway sources told that NDRF team has been sent from Patna for relief and rescue. Sources told that a goods train had derailed earlier between Rajkharsawan West Outer and Barabambu and due to which the wagons were on the track, at that time Howrah-Mumbai Mail was coming from the other track and its coaches also derailed after colliding with those wagons.

Train services affected, many trains cancelled and some halted midway

The passengers of the train affected by this accident have been sent to other nearby railway stations through buses. 22861 Howrah-Kantabaji Express, 8015/18019 Kharagpur-Dhanbad Express, 12021/12022 Howrah Barbil Express running on this route have had to be cancelled while some trains had to be stopped midway.
