The assistant policemen had come out to surround the CM’s residence after rejecting the talks of the Jharkhand government. During this, the protesters broke the barricades and vandalized the police vehicle, after which the police lathicharged the assistant policemen. The police tried to control them continuously, but the assistant policemen, creating a ruckus, reached the CM’s residence on Kanke Road in Ranchi, where the police again lathicharged them. After hours of uproar, the assistant policemen removed the blockade and returned to Morabadi Ground.

Assistant policemen have surrounded the assembly as well

Assistant policemen have been agitating for a long time. Earlier also, during the special session, they had staged a sit-in protest outside the assembly regarding their demands. They were reinstated in the year 2017 during the then Raghuvar Das government. Its purpose was to help the police personnel in maintaining law and order in the 12 Naxal-affected districts of the state. From then till today, they get only ten thousand rupees. Their demand is that the service of assistant police personnel should be made permanent and they should be accommodated in the police service.
