Jharkhand government floor test Champhai government gets majority

Ranchi. Champai Soren, who became the Chief Minister of Jharkhand after a lot of struggle, secured majority on Monday. While staking claim to form the government, Champai Soren had submitted letters of support from 43 MLAs to the Governor, but in the majority test held on Monday, 47 votes were cast in support of his government and 29 votes were cast in opposition. Former Chief Minister Hemant Soren, arrested by ED, also took part in the majority test. In his speech he attacked BJP and even said that Raj Bhavan also had a role in his arrest as he was arrested from there.

However, at the beginning of the Assembly session on Monday, the Governor’s address was given and after that Champai Soren presented the trust vote. Voting took place around 2 pm in the day, in which 47 votes were cast in favor of the government and 29 against the opposition. One MLA each from BJP and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and one independent remained absent. Independent MLA Saryu Rai was in the House, but did not vote.

Chief Minister Champai Soren had set a time of one hour and 10 minutes for the speaker to discuss the trust vote. During this, Chief Minister, former Chief Minister Hemant Soren, Leader of Opposition Amar Bauri, Congress leader Alamgir Alam and AJSU’s Sudesh Mahato spoke. In a 23-minute speech, Hemant Soren launched a scathing attack on the central government and the BJP. He said- For the first time in the country a Chief Minister has been arrested. Looks like it includes Raj Bhavan. Challenging the BJP and the central agency, he said – If they show even one paper that I have grabbed eight and a half acres of land, then why not retire from politics, I will leave Jharkhand.

Attacking BJP, Hemant Soren said- These people do not like how a tribal CM is running in BMW. If they have their way, they will send us back into the jungle. Their clothes get dirty by sitting near us. Champai Soren said in his speech that the work of Hemant Soren’s government has to be taken forward. The gap between rich and poor has to be reduced. He also said that there should be transparency in the central agency also.
