Newsroom Team: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has got bail from the Supreme Court. However, in one case, the Supreme Court has given a setback to Arvind Kejriwal. The Supreme Court has not considered Kejriwal’s arrest illegal. The Supreme Court gave its verdict on Friday (September 13) on two petitions of Kejriwal in the excise policy scam case. Kejriwal had filed two separate petitions challenging his arrest and denial of bail in the corruption case registered by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). A bench headed by Justice Suryakant gave its verdict on both the petitions. Justice Ujjwal Bhuinya is also included in the bench. The bench had reserved the decision on Kejriwal’s petitions on September 5. The CBI arrested the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief in this case on June 26. On August 14, the apex court refused to grant interim bail to Kejriwal in the case and sought a reply from the agency on his petition challenging the arrest.

Kejriwal had moved the Supreme Court challenging the High Court order

Arvind Kejriwal had approached the Supreme Court challenging the Delhi High Court’s August 5 order. The High Court had upheld his arrest in this corruption case. The High Court had said that after the arrest of Kejriwal by the CBI, there is now sufficient evidence against him and looking at the relevant evidence, it cannot be said that the arrest was without reason or illegal.
