Rahul gets big relief from Jharkhand High Court in defamation case

Ranchi. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has got a big relief in the defamation case going on against him in the MP-MLA court of Chaibasa. Jharkhand High Court has stayed the proceedings going on in the MP-MLA court. The court has issued a notice to the complainant of the case and directed him to file a reply within two weeks. The MP-MLA court in Chaibasa district had issued a non-bailable warrant against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on February 27. Rahul Gandhi had filed a petition in the High Court to stop this. A person named Pratap Katiyar, a resident of Chaibasa, has alleged in a complaint filed against Rahul Gandhi that he had made derogatory remarks against the then BJP national president Amit Shah in the Congress session in the year 2018. Rahul Gandhi had said that no murderer can become the national president in Congress. Congressmen cannot accept a murderer as the national president, this is possible only in BJP.

On this complaint, the Chaibasa Court had issued a bailable warrant against Rahul Gandhi in April 2022. No cognizance was taken by Rahul Gandhi on this. After this, the court issued a non-bailable warrant against him in February 2024. Rahul Gandhi’s lawyer had applied to the court and sought exemption from physical appearance, but his application was rejected. After this he approached the High Court.
