Change in life by joining Vani Mahila Mandal
Preity Devi, a resident of Senha village of Senha block of Lohardaga district of Jharkhand, remained confined in the boundary of the house for many years after marriage. She continued to take care of the household work, but in 2015, when she decided to join Vani Mahila Mandal, her life took a new turn. After joining the women’s group, Preeti started going to meetings regularly. Gradually, he got information about new means of employment. During this time, he woke up thinking of becoming self -sufficient in his mind and with time confidence also started increasing.
Income increased from beauty parlor and sewing machine
Like other women of the women’s group, Preeti Devi also started saving a little. After this, he took a loan of 40 thousand from the group and opened a beauty parlor. He started earning a good income from the parlor. Every month she started earning about 12 thousand rupees. After this, he also bought a sewing machine and started sewing clothes. Every month, an additional earning of about four-five thousand started earning. In this way, her total earnings reached more than one and a half lakh rupees in a year and she managed to become ‘Lakhpati Didi’.
Lakhpati Didi became the house while handling the household work
Preity Devi is educated and is always active in the women’s group. In the panchayat elections held in Jharkhand, she was elected a member of the Panchayat Samiti. Preeti attributes her success to JSLPS and Vani Mahila Mandal. She said that if the women’s group and JSLPS are not supported, she would still keep handling the housework, but now she earns more than one and a half lakh rupees annually and is known as ‘Lakhpati Didi’.
This is being increased by women’s income
The Lakhpati Didi Yojana has been launched to strengthen the rural women of Jharkhand self -reliant and financially. Under this, a target has been set to increase the annual income of women to one lakh rupees. For this, women are being linked to various means of livelihood like agriculture, animal husbandry, fisheries, mushroom production, beekeeping, handicrafts, business and skill development.
Plan for women running in all 24 districts
Lakhpati Didi Yojana is going on in 264 blocks of all 24 districts of Jharkhand. There is a target to make 8.44 lakh women a millionaire here. So far, about five and a half lakh women have become millionaires in Jharkhand. Benefits like cyclic funds, community investment funds, banking facilities and interest exemption are being given to women associated with Sakhi mandals.
