Indian Railways Ultimatum to Sini Dalit Basti: Sini (Seraikela-Kharsawan), Shachindra Kumar Dash/ Pratap Mishra: Railway has given an ultimatum to vacate the Dalit settlement located near Sini railway station in Seraikela-Kharsawan district. The Railways issued a notice to these families asking them to vacate the township within 15 days. Railways have said that if the settlement is not vacated within 15 days, the railway will run the encroachment campaign and vacate the entire township. After receiving the notice from the Railway Department, the people of the township are scared and they have appealed to the district administration to arrange the land for them before the railway should evict them from the township.

People of Dalit Basti reached the Deputy Commissioner Office of Seraikela-Kharsawan.

Residents submitted memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner

The residents have reached the DC office under the leadership of Zilla Parishad President Sonaram Bodra and Zilla Parishad member Laxmi Sardar and requested the Deputy Commissioner to arrange for their rehabilitation. He has appealed to DC that land should be arranged somewhere for his stay. The residents have also submitted a memorandum in this regard. Sonaram Bodra has appealed to the district administration and the railway to take out the middle way, so that the people of the Dalit colony are not homeless.

District administration give land to landless land in settlement – demand of people

In the memorandum submitted to the Deputy Commissioner, the people of the township have said that landless families have been living on railway land for 100 years. Most families live by cleaning cleanliness and daily wages. Earlier in the year 2018, the Railways gave a similar notice. Then the landless families were assured by the district administration that they will be given 4-4 decimal land.

Due to Corona, the case of settlement went in cold storage

Villagers said that due to an epidemic like Korona infection, the matter went in cold storage. Now again the railway has sent a notice. If the railways destroyed their colony and forced them to move from there, then 90 families would become homeless. Their home will be taken away. Therefore, the administration takes initiative in time and help them.
