KOCHI: Dowry dying accused Kiran Kumar on Thursday approached the Kerala High Court in search of to quash the FIR in opposition to him within the case. The police arrested him for bodily and mentally abusing and torturing his spouse Vismaya demanding dowry.
His petition said that the allegation within the FIR is fake and fabricated. He was arrested merely due to suspicion by the police and no prima facie case was made out in opposition to him, it mentioned.
The police arrested him for the offence beneath Sections 498A (subjecting a lady to cruelty for dowry) and 304B (dowry dying) of the Indian Penal Code. The petitioner submitted that there was no proof to ebook him for the offence beneath part 304B.
Vismaya, 23, was discovered lifeless beneath mysterious circumstances in her husband’s house at Poruvazhi in Sooranad. Kiran Kumar, who’s an inspector with the motor autos division, is in judicial custody.
