THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In what may spark nationwide outrage, Forest Minister A Okay Saseendran has made a weird assertion that the federal government is planning culling of tigers in Wayanad to comprise the menace to human lives posed by the reported overpopulation of the massive cat.“The government is contemplating moving the Supreme Court for permission to cull tigers,” he instructed TNIE on Tuesday.

“Though the department considered population control of tigers through sterilisation, experts have opined that it’s not possible. So, Kerala is contemplating moving the top court,” he stated. However, environmental activists identified that killing tigers is prohibited beneath the Wildlife (Protection) Act (WPA) until it’s declared a man-eater.
