Kerala Sahitya Akademi awardee, famous author Venugopan Nair dies

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Noted author SV Venugopan Nair died following a quick sickness at a personal hospital right here within the early hours of Tuesday. He was 76.

Born on April 18, 1945, at Karode in Neyyatinkara taluk to P Sadashivan Thampi and JV Vishalakshi Amma, Venugopan accomplished his research at Kulathoor High School and University College. He earned MA, MPhil and PhD levels in Malayalam. 

He was a college at Scott Christian College, Nagercoil and likewise taught Malayalam in varied faculties below the Nair Service Society (NSS) at Manjeri, Nilamel, Dhanuvachapuram, Ottappalam and Cherthala.

His notable works embrace brief story anthologies equivalent to ‘Garbhashreeman’, ‘Adisheshan’, ‘Mruthithaalam’, ‘Rekhayillatha Oral’, ‘Thiktham Theekshnam Thimiram’, ‘Bhoomiputhrante Vazhi’, ‘Kathakalathisaadaram’, ‘Ente Paradaivangal’ and ‘Ottappalam’. 

The author has received quite a few awards together with the Kerala Sahitya Akademi award, Edassery award and Padmarajan Puraskaram. He is survived by spouse Valsala and three kids. The final rites will likely be held on Thursday.
