Three together with a pair die after ambulance crashes into roadside tree in Kannur

KANNUR: Three folks, together with a pair, died in an accident at Mundayadu, about 5 km from Kannur, after the ambulance wherein they had been travelling hit a tree on the roadside early on Monday morning.

The deceased had been recognized as Bijo Michael Vettikkuzhi (45), his spouse Thottumkara Rejina (37) and OV Nidhin Raj (25), the motive force of the ambulance. Benny, brother of Rejina, who was additionally within the ambulance was critically injured and was admitted to the district hospital.

Police stated that the ambulance coming from Payyavur was taking Bijo, who was affected by acute abdomen ache, to a personal hospital in Kannur. As Rejina too determined to accompany her husband, they went again to their home to take their kids, Erin and Ebin, to the home of her brother Benny (43) at Kavumbayi. Then Benny too determined to accompany the couple.

Though folks rushed to the spot on listening to concerning the accident, they could not rescue these trapped contained in the automobile.

Rejina was a instructor of Manikkadavu St Thomas UP School. Bijo is survived by his father Michael, mom Thressiamma and youngsters Erin and Ebin.

Driver Nidhin Raj is survived by his father Ottedath Vijayan and mom Radhamani. The funeral of Nidhin was held at his home at Vathilmada. The funeral of Bijo and Rejina will likely be held at Pottanplavu St Joseph Church on Tuesday.
