    Hundreds of coins have been put on exhibition in 40 such stalls.

    Highlights

    Coins from the Maurya, Gupta, Mughal and British eras are on display. Copper coins were used during the Maurya Empire and had royal symbols engraved on them. Most of the items on display at the Mumbai Auction stall are ancient gold coins.

    The history of Indian coins is extremely diverse and rich. The influence of different periods and cultures was seen on the coins. From the Mughal period to the British Raj, coin collection has been an important part of Indian history.

    During this period, coins played a role not only in trade and transactions but also in political and cultural heritage. The collection of coins has been collected from different periods. These include coins of Maurya, Gupta and Mughal empires.

    Exhibition held at Aurora Bhawan

    The heritage of ancient India is preserved. A three-day coin exhibition has been organised at Arora Bhawan on Nath Mandir Road from Friday. A three hundred year old coin of Chandragupta II period was seen here.

    This 7.73 gram gold coin is worth lakhs. In the exhibition, rare coins of kings and Mughal era have been kept among the ancient currencies. Thousands of coins and old Indian currency were also displayed.

    The special thing is that it also has the currency used during the British rule. Various coins of Queen Victoria were seen on every stall. Coin collectors also bought them.

    Interest shown in coins of Mughal period

    People who came to the exhibition were more interested in the coins of the Mughal Empire. Also, during Akbar’s reign, there was uniformity in the design and weight of the coins. Mughal coins were usually made of silver, gold and copper. Royal orders were also inscribed in Persian.

    Copper coins were used in Maurya Empire

    Coins of the Gupta and Maurya periods are also part of the exhibition. There were coins made of copper in the Maurya Empire. Royal symbols and inscriptions were seen on these. There were also coins with images of gods and goddesses. Hinduism is also depicted in the coins made of copper.

    There were also nationally recognized renowned auctioneers famous for auctioning antiques and old coins. These included Todiwala Auction Mumbai, Marudhar Auction Bangalore, Classical Auction Ahmedabad, Bhargava Auction Indore, Oswal Auction.

    Impression of Shiva-Parvati on the coin

    Indore’s Soni family had set up a stall in the exhibition. The copper coin is two thousand years old. It had the image of Shiva-Parvati on it. This coin was quite popular in Indore and Ujjain. Weighing weights from the Holkar era were also seen at the stall.

    About 40 stalls have been set up

    Most of the items on the Mumbai Auction stall are gold coins. People of the city are flocking to see them. Ancient currency experts from different states had come to the exhibition. About 40 stalls have been set up. – Ashish Soni, committee member

    Auction of 300 coins today

    In this exhibition, which will continue till September 1, there is an opportunity to see coins as well as buy them. The coins will be auctioned on Saturday, in which bids will be made for more than 300 gold stamp coins.

    This auction will be conducted by Oswal Auction of Mumbai. Currency lovers who arrive at the exhibition one hour before can participate in the auction.
