BHEL officer falls victim to honey trap (representative image)

Navdunia representative, Bhopal. A case of honeytrap has once again come to light in the Govindpura area of the capital. A senior officer of Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), one of the Maharatna companies of the country, was lured into a honeytrap by promising to meet a Russian girl and about two lakh rupees were extorted from him.
The accused kidnapped him and took him to Jabalpur. Somehow he escaped from the clutches of the accused and reached the police. In this case, the police has registered an FIR against four people including the victim officer’s old friend and his two female friends. The police has arrested the main accused. The police is actively engaged in searching for the remaining accused.
According to Govindpura police station, Shakti Nagar Rajul Agarwal is DGM in BHEL. In his complaint, he told the police that Saket Nagar resident Shashank Verma alias Sunny has been his friend for 25 years. On August 14, he took him to Hotel Celestial Park. He said that he will arrange a night-long meeting with a Russian girl in the hotel. Rajul went to the hotel with him. After staying in the hotel for some time, he left the room and came back.
Later on the evening of 15 August, Shashank alias Sunny came to him and showed him a normal photo-video in which Rajul was seen with a Russian girl. Sunny threatened him that he has 30 more such videos. He asked Rajul for one lakh rupees to settle the matter. Rajul refused to give the money. Rajul told Sunny that you have betrayed our friendship. Then he took Rajul to an apartment in MP Nagar on the pretext of getting the video deleted.

In order to trap the BHEL officer in his trap, the accused Shashank told him about a murderous attack on a female broker named Mamta. After that, every ten minutes Sunny started receiving calls from people posing as crime branch police. The BHEL officer was intimidated with the fear of arrest. In reality, this was a complete trick of Shashank to extort money. He first took Rs. 55,000 and later another Rs. 50,000 from the BHEL officer. After that, he kidnapped him and took him to Jabalpur. He got Rs. 40,000 transferred from his UPI account and got Rs. 60,000 withdrawn from his ATM. In this way, he took around Rs. 2,50,000.
When Rajul Agarwal reached home, the accused Sunny sent a 14-second video on his mobile. Rajul told that he was demanding Rs 3 lakh. After investigation, the police registered a case against Shashank alias Sunny, his accomplices Mamta Dwivedi, Deepak Bhagore, Pooja Rajput. Shashank has been arrested. His other accomplices are absconding. The police is searching for them.
