Highlights

Since July, 6 new corona patients have been identified. Samples of the patients were sent to AIIMS Bhopal for genome testing. The genome sequencing machine has been lying unused for two years.

Naiduniya representative, Indore. New corona patients are emerging in the city, which has increased the concern of the health department. Two new corona patients were found in Indore on Monday. One of these women is undergoing treatment in a private hospital. 7 corona patients have been found since July.

Infections due to weather changes

The reason for finding these patients is said to be weather change. The new cases include a man and a woman. One of these patients is undergoing treatment in home isolation, while the other is admitted in the hospital.

A 44-year-old man from Khandwa Road and a 60-year-old woman from Vaishali Nagar have tested positive. The male patient got tested in a private laboratory after showing symptoms of corona. The woman was found positive during treatment at the special Jupiter Hospital. She was admitted to the hospital after having respiratory problems. – Dr. Anshul Mishra, District Epidemiologist, Indore

Samples of these patients have been sent to AIIMS Bhopal for genome sequencing to know about the variant of the virus prevalent in the city. The variant will be known only after the report comes. The health department team has also contacted the family members of these patients and inquired about their health condition.

Genome sequencing machine kept for two years, not started yet

It is worth noting that 2 years ago, a genome sequencing machine was installed in MGM Medical College so that various variants of other viruses including corona could be detected, but the irony is that its facility has not been started yet. Earlier, citing the training of responsible doctors, it was said that it was not operational.

But six months ago, the doctor returned from Pune after training. Despite this, the machine could not be started. Those in charge always cite lack of equipment as the reason for not starting it. In such a situation, samples still have to be sent to Bhopal for testing the variant, the test report is not received on time from here.
