Five people including Sheopur district panchayat member Suresh Lalawat sentenced to 5 years imprisonment each, had attacked forest staff

Naiduniya representative, Sheopur. The District and Sessions Court has sentenced five people, including a district panchayat member, to 5 years of imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 3,000 each for attacking forest officials. Special Public Prosecutor Rajendra Jadhav argued on behalf of the government.

According to the case, Forest Range Officer Hemant Bhargava of the Forest Department and his team had caught two tractor-trolleys carrying illegal sand from Salapura canal on 21 February 2023. After seizing the tractor-trolley, they started bringing it to Dhengda forest post, when Rajkumar alias Raju son Kanhaiya, Kanhaiya son Narayan, Puran son Narayan, District Panchayat member Suresh Lalawat, resident of Bagdia Madho Ka Dera, came and stopped the forest staff on the way and attacked the forest staff and freed the tractor-trolley. After some time, Hemraj son Narayan and his other companions came with a bike and abused and beat up the forest staff. An attempt was also made to throw Ranger Hemant Bhargava into the Chambal canal. While doing videography, the mobiles of the team members were also taken away. Forest Range Officer Hemant Bhargava had lodged a case in Dhodhar police station area.
