A heartbreaking incident has come to light in Deori ward number-4 of Raisen district, where a mother brutally murdered her three-year-old son and five-year-old daughter with an axe. The incident took place on Thursday morning around 11.30 am. The police have arrested the woman at some distance from the spot, but the reason for the murder is not yet clear.

According to ASP Kamlesh Kumar, the woman named Radhika Adivasi slit the throats of her son Dev (3) and daughter Naina (5) with an axe. The woman’s husband, who works at a dhaba, was not at home at the time of the incident. When he returned, he came to know about the horrific incident and immediately informed the police. A burnt mattress was also found near the girl’s body at the scene.

The woman is changing her statement repeatedly

According to the woman’s husband, two months ago his wife complained of headache and was undergoing treatment. Since the incident, the woman has been changing her statements repeatedly. First she said that she wanted to separate from her husband, so she killed the children. Then she said that she also wanted to die, but after killing the children, she gave up the idea of ​​suicide.

The children were last seen with their grandfather

Neighbours said that in the morning both the children were seen with their grandfather. The grandfather had given them chocolates. Both the children’s father and grandfather work at a dhaba located about half a kilometre away from the house. At around 12 noon, the neighbours saw the woman walking towards the main road with a bag.

When they looked towards the hut, smoke was seen rising from there. Neighbours immediately rushed to the spot and saw both the children lying in a pool of blood and clothes and belongings burning nearby. They extinguished the fire and recovered the burnt photographs of the children. After this, they informed the grandfather and called the police.

Neighbours have suspected that the woman was friends with a young man and that young man had come to the house at the time of the incident. Possibly the children saw him, due to which the woman got frightened and killed the children. Police is also investigating from this angle.
