The number of students has decreased to 56 lakhs. Despite uniforms and mid-day meals, there is no trust. There are no students in the first class in 5,500 schools.
Naiduniya Representative, Bhopal. Continuous efforts are being made to improve the quality of education in Madhya Pradesh, but the number of students is continuously decreasing. This is the reason that this year about 7 lakh fewer students have taken admission compared to last year, while many changes have been made in it according to the new education policy.
Along with providing facilities like free books, uniforms and mid-day meals in schools, ‘School Chalen Hum’ and ‘Griha Sampark Abhiyan’ were also launched to increase enrollment. From ministers and public representatives to officers, everyone came forward for this, but could not win the trust of parents.
Let us tell you that by October, the admission process will start in government schools from class 1 to 8. So far in this session, 56 lakh students have taken admission in classes 1 to 8, while last year 63 lakh admissions were made. There are five and a half thousand schools in which not even a single student has taken admission in class 1. Only two children have taken admission in 25 thousand schools. There are 11 thousand schools where 10-10 children have taken admission. This has been revealed from the enrollment data uploaded on the portal of the State Education Center.
Let us tell you that there are about 78 thousand primary schools in the state. According to the enrollment data released on the portal of the School Education Department, the number of children in government schools is decreasing year after year. However, the State Education Center has issued instructions to the District Project Coordinators to launch a home contact campaign and do mapping with Samagra ID to increase the enrollment of children.
This is the situation in Bhopal
If we take the example of the capital Bhopal, the number of government schools is 771. In this, as of 13 September 2024, no one was enrolled in class 1 in 47 schools. The number of schools that have admitted only two students is 225.
There are teachers in 355 schools but no children
According to the data released recently by the State Education Centre, there are 355 schools in 38 districts of the state where there are teachers but no students. Now the teachers of such schools are being sent to other schools where there is a shortage of teachers in proportion to the students. Three schools of Bhopal are included in this.
The department gave these reasons for not getting admission
Children moving to another place with their parents. Such situations arise due to lack of mapping with the Samagra ID. Children are also not mapped properly due to change of place.
Efforts to increase enrollment through campaign
Harjinder Singh, Director, State Education Center said that instructions have been given to launch a door-to-door campaign and map with Samagra ID to increase the enrollment rate of children in primary and secondary schools. As far as zero enrollment in class 1 in five and a half thousand schools is concerned, after mapping, if the number of teachers is found to be more, they will be sent to other schools.
