Rainy season started in Indore… got relief from heat, but people got troubled due to water filled on roads

Wherever the roads are dug up in Indore city, the situation has become dangerous. Two-wheeler riders keep falling victim to accidents due to potholes. Due to lack of cleaning of storm water line, these roads got flooded.

Indore (Heavy Rain in Indore). Heavy rains occurred in many areas of Indore city on Wednesday morning. Due to this, the roads were flooded and the drivers had to face trouble. Earlier, an hour of rain on Tuesday evening shattered the claims of Indore Municipal Corporation. Waterlogging occurred on the roads.

In most areas including BRTS, AB Road, Patnaipura, North Toda, Nehru Nagar, the roads were flooded upto knee level. At many places bikes were submerged more than halfway, while at other places cars were flooded. Water could not drain out due to choking of chambers at many places. The rain after a fortnight brought relief from humidity.

Roads filled with water, potholes caused problems

Roads are dug up all over the city. When water accumulated on these roads due to heavy rain on Tuesday, drivers faced the most trouble. Two-wheeler drivers kept falling victim to accidents due to potholes. A few days ago, the Municipal Corporation had filled the potholes with gravel to close them. The gravel got washed away with the water in the rain on Tuesday.

Problems increased due to lack of cleaning of storm water lines

There are more than 350 km of roads in the city where there is no storm water line. Where there are storm water lines, the rain water could not drain out due to the lack of cleaning of the lines. This also caused the problem of waterlogging. Waterlogging also occurred due to the dividers on the roads.

Waterlogging and traffic jams were seen at many major intersections. Heavy waterlogging also occurred in many low-lying areas of the city and BRTS. Many areas including Palasia, Guitar Tiraha, Scheme 140, Khajrana, Robot, Shantipath, Rambagh Bridge, Patnaipura, Ahilyashram, BRTS were flooded with knee-deep water.

As soon as the rain stopped in the late evening, the pressure of vehicles on the city roads increased. Due to this, vehicles kept getting jammed. DCP Traffic Arvind Tiwari said that wherever information was received, force was immediately sent to clear the jam. There was a lot of problem in traffic movement due to waterlogging on the intersections.

45 mm of water fell in one and a quarter hours, warning of heavy rain today too

On Tuesday, the central and eastern regions received more rain than the western region. The eastern region recorded 45 mm of rain between 4 pm and 5.15 pm, while the western region recorded 42.2 mm of rain during the same period. While 59.22 mm of rain fell between 11.30 am and 5.30 pm.

According to the Meteorological Department, the low pressure area is located over central parts of Bangladesh and its neighbourhood. It is likely to move north-northwestwards towards West Bengal during the next 48 hours. According to Meteorological Department officials, heavy rains are also expected in Indore on Wednesday. The average rainfall in Indore is 889 mm, but till now only half the average rainfall has been recorded.
