Scholarship scam of Rs 19 lakh came to light, illegal scholarship withdrawal in the name of eight students, case registered against FDDI instructor and center in-charge

Naidunia Representative, Chhindwara: Scholarship scam of more than Rs 19 lakh has come to light in Imli Kheda Fashion Designing Institute. It is said that the then in-charge and instructor of the institute defrauded the government of lakhs of rupees by showing UG pass out students of fashion designing as examinees. In this case, the police have registered a case of fraud against the then center president and instructor of FDI.

19 lakh scholarship given in the name of eight students

The PG students and their relatives had complained about the irregularities to the Collector, who had formed an inquiry committee to investigate the matter and sought a report. Investigation revealed that in the academic session 2022-23, a scholarship worth Rs 19 lakh 11 thousand 360 was illegally withdrawn in the name of eight students, in whose name the scholarship was withdrawn, they were working elsewhere.

Investigation of scholarship for OBC students

On the basis of the report, the Collector asked to register a case against the then center in-charge of FDI Pradeep Mandal and instructor Vineet Verma. An offense has been registered against the concerned under various sections including fraud. In this case, scholarships issued in the name of students of other categories including OBC are also being investigated.

The investigation committee had investigated the complaint of irregularities in the Fashion Designing Institute. On the basis of the report of the inquiry committee, a crime of fraud has been registered against the then in-charge and instructor of FDI. The case is being investigated.
