Three members of the same family drowned in Narmada in Maheshwar, mother and sister also lost their lives while trying to save the son

Naiduniya News, Maheshwar: Three members of a family died after drowning in Narmada while bathing at Mandal Khor Ghat in Maheshwar. Those who drowned included a woman and her son and daughter. While bathing, 18-year-old son Vikram started drowning in the river, to save him, his mother and his sister also jumped into the river. All three did not know how to swim, due to which all three drowned in the river. The bodies of the mother and daughter have been taken out, while Vikram’s body is being searched for.

The family had come to visit Maheshwar from Indore

Five members of a Rajput family living in Indore’s Arvindo Sanwer Road E-Sector had come to visit Maheshwar. After reaching Maheshwar around 11 am on Wednesday, everyone was taking a bath in the Narmada river at the secluded Mandal Khor Ghat. While bathing, 18-year-old Vikram Rajput started drowning.

Mother and sister tried to save him

Seeing Vikram drowning, his mother Urmila Rajput (45) and sister Mohini (25) tried to save him by holding his hand. While trying to save him, the three of them reached deep water, but as they did not know how to swim, all three died by drowning.

Elder brother was sitting on the ghat

While sitting on the ghat and using his mobile, after some time the elder brother 22 year old Aman Rajput saw the bodies of his mother and sister floating in the water and informed the divers. After this the divers took out the bodies of his mother and sister, while the search for Vikram Rajput’s body is on. The sister Mohini who lost her life also has a one and half month old son.

Two bodies recovered

The police was informed about the incident. On receiving the information about the incident, police station inspector Pankaj Tiwari, SDM Anil Jain, Tehsildar Rakesh Sastiya reached the spot and investigated the incident. The bodies of both the women were sent to Maheshwar Hospital.
