The government has issued a new guideline for the public distribution system. After August 31, ration for the current month will not be available. Till now, ration used to be available till the 15th of the next month.

Naiduniya representative, Bhind. There is important and big news for those who take food grains from the Public Distribution System (Control) shop. The government has made changes in the ration distribution system from August 12. In this, if the consumer does not take food grains from the control till August 31, then his ration will lapse. He will not get the food grains of the previous month in the next month. The consumer’s complaint will not be heard anywhere.

Let us tell you that till now the government’s rule was that if a consumer was unable to get food grains in the current month due to any reason, then he could get ration by putting his thumb impression in the kiosk machine till the 15th of the next month. In this, the consumer could get ration of the previous and current month together i.e. two months.

But on August 12, Rashmi Arun Shami, Principal Secretary, Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Department, issued an order to all the collectors of the state, saying that the ration for the month of July should be distributed by August 15 at any cost.

Whereas this should be done till 31st August. If a consumer does not go to the shop to get ration till 31st August, then his foodgrains will lapse. He will not be given ration in the coming month of September. Whereas in the month of September, ration is to be distributed from 1st to 30th September.

There are 2 lakh 5825 consumers at 552 shops

According to District Supply Officer Manoj Varshney, new orders have come from the government. Therefore, earlier it was arranged that if an eligibility slip holder is unable to get ration from the government fair price shop in the current month due to any reason, then he used to get ration till the 15th of the next month, but now clear instructions have been issued by the state government that the eligibility slip holder will have to get ration from the shop in the current month itself. This system has come into effect from the month of August 2024. There are 552 PDS shops in the district. Two lakh five thousand 825 families take ration from these shops every month.

That’s why a new guideline was issued

According to the departmental officials, till now the control operators used to do some manipulation in the distribution of ration. The shopkeepers often used to ask the consumer to come in the next month. When the consumer used to go to get ration in the next month, the shopkeepers used to get thumb impression of two months on the POS machine, while giving ration for only one month. Similar complaints were often reaching the senior officials. To curb this black marketing, the government has implemented a new system.

On 12th August, the government has issued a new guideline. In the new system, the beneficiary will have to take the ration of the current month by the 31st in any case.
