Water level in Vainganga increased in Balaghat, priest Toparam got stuck in Shiva temple, relatives kept searching for him throughout the night

The SDRF team rescued the people safely. It has been raining continuously in Balaghat since Saturday. Due to the release of water from Bhimgarh reservoir, the villages situated on the banks of the river got flooded.

Naiduniya, Lamta/Balaghat (Balaghat News). It has been raining continuously since Saturday in Balaghat of MP, due to which rivers and streams have overflowed. And traffic is closed due to closure of many roads. Also, small streams are closed for three days. Here in Seoni district, due to heavy rains, water was released from Bhimgarh reservoir and the water level in the Wainganga river flowing through Balaghat increased, due to which villages have been flooded.

In village Raghotola, on the banks of the Wainganga river confluence ghat, there are Shri Ram and Shiv temples in the same complex. On the first Monday of the month of Sawan, at around 7 pm, priest Topram Bopche, 82 years old, resident of village Murjhad, police station Lamta, who went to worship in the temple, got stuck in the temple overnight due to the flood. When the priest did not return home till the next day morning, the villagers went towards the Wainganga river and looked for him. The Lamta police station was informed about him being stuck in the temple.

On the first Monday of the month of Sawan, the priest had gone to offer prayers in the evening. He could not come out due to the rising water level of the river. On receiving the information, the SDRF team carried out the rescue operation and took him out.

Lamta police station called the SDRF team from Balaghat. Rescue work started at 9 am on Tuesday and he was rescued at 10:30 am. Platoon commander Shyam Singh Dhurve, SDRF Ashu Mesram, Ghanshyam Sonekar, Karan Valke, Fagulal Lal Nevare, Sonu Markam, Ashish Kharole, Tam Singh Uikey kept trying to rescue the priest trapped in the flood.

The priest trapped in the temple at Wainganga Sangam Ghat, about 600 meters from the village, was brought to a safe place. Additional Superintendent of Police Baihar SDOP Paraswada Satish Sahu, Lamta Tehsildar Krishna Kumar Nayak, Sub Inspector Dilip Nayak, Bhupendra Chauhan, Devendra Pandaram were present on the spot.
