10 yrs after retirement, OMC workers await pension

JAJPUR: Retired staff of Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) on Tuesday staged a dharna in entrance of OMC workplace at Dhabalagiri demanding rapid implementation of superannuation scheme. 

The protestors, who had served at Daitary, Keonjhar, Gandhamardhan and Jajpur mining zones of OMC and had retired 10 years again, alleged they haven’t been paid pensions but. 

President of OMC retired staff affiliation, Bishnu Ranjan Das stated former Chief Minister of Odisha, Biju Patnaik had sanctioned the pension scheme for OMC and the then Orissa State Electricity Board (OSEB) staff in 1991.

Even as OSEB launched the scheme, OMC didn’t. Several retired OMC staff then knocked the door of Orissa High Court over the problem. The court docket, in its order directed OMC to pay pension to all its retired staff, on January 23, 2019. 

OMC then really helpful the State authorities to implement the superannuation scheme which is but to be finished. Das stated 123 retired OMC personnel have died with out getting pension within the final 10 years. Advisor of the affiliation, Naresh Kumar Mohanty threatened to accentuate the agitation if the superannuation scheme shouldn’t be applied quickly.
