61 arrested for drunken driving licences, 680 driving licences cancelled in 3 months

ROURKELA: In a joint operation on Tuesday evening, Sundargarh Police and the Regional Transport Office (RTO) arrested 61 individuals on fees of drunken driving. The operation, geared toward curbing mishaps on State Highway-10 and roads in city areas of the district, was carried out by personnel of Rajgangpur, Kutra, Sadar, Town, Talsara, Birmitrapur and Bhasma police stations. 

From November 2020 to January 16 this 12 months, 680 driving licences have both been cancelled or suspended for violations together with drunken driving, over-speeding, over-loading and speaking on cell phones whereas driving, Sundargarh SP Sagarika Nath stated and added that to curb highway mishaps, strict enforcement will proceed.

Interceptor autos are getting used extensively since October final to maintain a test on cases of over-speeding. Stating that pillion riders on two-wheelers are being inspired to put on helmets, Nath stated 29 black spots have been recognized within the district. 

In Steel City, Rourkela Police has been working in tandem with the RTO to make sure compliance to site visitors guidelines. Rourkela DSP (Traffic) Samarendra Nayak stated from December 1, 2020 until January 16 this 12 months, 1,202 DLs had been really helpful for cancellation of which 664 have been suspended within the metropolis. While 609 DLs had been suspended for riders not carrying helmets, 31 had been suspended to be used of cell phone whereas driving and one for harmful driving.
