Bhubaneswar: Admissions of scholars beneath Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) quota in non-public colleges in Odisha will now get on-line, mentioned School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash on Saturday.
While speaking to reporters, Dash mentioned the transfer goals at bringing in transparency. Earlier, the division had acquired experiences relating to irregularities in admissions at some locations within the State.
“We had earlier come across some problems in admissions of students under EWS quota. The process to streamline the admission is underway and soon Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik will launch it,” mentioned Dash.
Worth mentioning right here that Odisha Abhibhabak Mahasangha has been demanding 25% reservation for college students belonging to poor and deprived sections in non-public English medium colleges within the State.
As per the Section 12(1)(c) of the RTE Act, all specified class or non-public colleges should reserve 25% of their seats for kids belonging to EWS from the neighbourhood and supply them admission from Class I onwards.
Odisha Abhibhabak Mahasangha mentioned that the affiliation has been preventing for this for the final six years. However, lastly the State authorities’s School and Mass Education Department issued a proper notification on January 8 in mentioning a few provision for 25% reservation of seats for kids belonging to EWS in colleges.
“The State government is going to take steps to ensure that the admissions are done through a dedicated portal. We hope that it will ensure transparency as it will be monitored by the department and other officials,” mentioned Prasanna Bisoi, a senior official of the affiliation.
