Attack On OPCC Chief Niranjan Patnaik’s Vehicle: Police Detain Prime Accused | OTV News

Keonjhar: The Keonjhar Town Police Station on Monday detained one individual for allegedly making an attempt to assault the automobile of Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Niranjan Patnaik close to Kashipur right here on Sunday night.
The individual has been recognized as Sanjay Mohanty, the prime accused of the case. Meanwhile, the police are interrogating him relating to the motive behind the assault.
The incident came about at round 8 pm close to Keonjhar Congress Bhavan at Kashipur. Four to 5 miscreants travelling in a automobile in an inebriated state intercepted Patnaik’s automobile and tried to assault the automobile.
When the senior Congress chief’s private safety officer (PSO) Rakesh Singh tried to cease them, they grabbed him by the neck and thrashed him. They additionally beat Patnaik’s driver. However, they escaped when different Congress members rushed to the spot.
Later, based mostly on the FIR by Patnaik’s PSO, police registered a case on this regard below Sections 341, 294, 323, 307, 427 and 506 of the IPC.
The Keonjhar district Congress president Biplab Mishra mentioned the rationale behind the assault remains to be unclear whereas the OPCC president mentioned he didn’t suspect any political hyperlink within the assault and raised considerations on the deteriorating regulation and order state of affairs within the State.
