Cold Wave Returns To Odisha, No Respite From Chill Till Jan 19 – ODISHA BYTES

Bhubaneswar: After a niche of almost two weeks, a recent chilly wave gripped Odisha, particularly within the inside districts, on Friday.
The night time temperature fell beneath 10°C in 4 locations on Friday with Phulbani being the coldest at 6°C, adopted by Jharsuguda (7.4), Daringbadi (8.5) and Sundargarh (9), in keeping with a bulletin issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday morning.
Apart from this, the mercury remained beneath 15°C in Angul (11.6), Keonjhar (11.6), Sambalpur (11), Hirakud (12.1), Talcher (14.6), Bhawanipatna (10.4), Balangir (10), Koraput (13), Titlagarh (11), Sonepur (10.6), Nayagarh (14) and Boudh (10.5).
The IMD predicted that the night time temperature will fall by 3-4° C within the inside districts through the subsequent three days and by 2-3° C at a number of locations in remainder of the state through the subsequent two days.
The chilly wave situation will prevail within the state until January 19 after which there shall be a gradual rise in night time temperature, it added.
In view of a yellow warning for intense chilly wave issued by the IMD, the Special Relief Commissioner’s workplace has alerted the collectors of the inside districts to take ample measures to make sure the well being and security of individuals.
