Indravati water diversion to go away Nabarangpur excessive and dry, says BJP

JEYPORE:  A day after Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik unveiled the mega raise irrigation undertaking in Kalahandi, BJP on Friday warned that Nabarangpur will expertise a desert-like scenario in future on account of diversion of Indravati river water to Mahanadi basin. Addressing mediapersons, former MP Parasuram Majhi alleged that the State authorities is neglecting pursuits of Nabarangpur farmers who’re entitled to get water from Indravati. The authorities has been utilizing Indravati water from Nabarangpur for irrigation tasks in neighbouring Kalahandi district. On the opposite hand, native farmers are disadvantaged of the river water for irrigation, he claimed. 

“The BJD-led State government is apathetic towards farmers of Nabarangpur district. The continuous diversion of water from Indravati river to Kalahandi would leave the catchment dry in future,” Majhi stated. The BJP chief additional stated the State authorities had deliberate to implement 5 irrigation tasks in Nabarangpur. However, not a single one has been began but. While public representatives are silent on the problem, native farmers are in determined want of those irrigation tasks.

Majhi warned that if the federal government fails to begin work on irrigation tasks in Nabarangpur, the BJP would take to the streets in protest. “We are not opposing irrigation projects in other districts but government should also look after the interests of Nabarangpur farmers,” he added.Among others, district BJP president Jagadish Bisoyi and senior social gathering chief Jadeswar Khadanga have been current.
