Initiative to advertise livelihood of forest dwellers

BHUBANESWAR: The Forest and Environment division will quickly roll out a Multi Product Cluster Initiative for selling livelihood of individuals dwelling in forest fringe villages of the State. Officials mentioned the Odisha Forestry Sector Development Society (OFSDS) will implement the initiative beneath Odisha Forestry Sector Development Project (OFSDP)-II, one of many JICA assisted initiatives of the State.

Under the initiative, OFSDS will kind clusters of Van Surakshya Samitis (VSSs) and self-help teams (SHGs) to supply them a platform to gather and market non-timber forest merchandise recognized by it.  So far, 19 completely different non-timber forest merchandise together with consists of sal leaf, amla, tamarind, honey, bamboo, harida, bahada, and so on have been recognized for assortment and sale by the clusters. More such merchandise might be included to the checklist in future, officers mentioned.

A consortium of Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology and Technology Business Incubator (KIIT- TBI) Bhubaneswar, Bhubaneswar City Knowledge Innovation Cluster (BCKIC), and Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE), Guwahati will assist OFSDS in imparting coaching to the clusters, packaging and branding of the merchandise in addition to offering market linkage.

PCCF and HoFF Debidutta Biswal mentioned institution of multi-product clusters to assist the forest fringe dwellers might be useful for the communities and different stakeholders in producing high quality pure merchandise available in the market.
