Odisha BJP ‘Suspends’ Dharna In Sambalpur Police Station Over Farmers’ Issue | OTV News

Sambalpur: The BJP on Friday mentioned that it has ‘suspended’ the dharna over farmers’ challenge on the premises of the Sambalpur Town police station following a dialogue with the Revenue Divisional Commissioner (RDC), North Division, Niranjan Sahu.
Leaders of the saffron celebration launched the dharna on Thursday night demanding procurement of paddy which has been mendacity unsold in market yards.
BJP leaders, together with state president Samir Mohanty, had been taken into preventive custody after celebration staff tried to gherao the workplace of the RDC in Sambalpur after holding a rally to protest towards the alleged anti-farmer insurance policies of the state’s BJD authorities on Thursday.
The leaders had been detained on the Town police station and after the mob dispersed, the police allow them to off. However, they refused to go away the police station till their calls for had been met and stayed the night time there, sources mentioned.
Tension erupted on Friday morning when the police stopped BJP staff from getting into the premises of the police station to fulfill the leaders. The celebration activists gathered in entrance of the primary gate of the police station and staged a dharna.
As the sit-in continued until late within the afternoon, the RDC invited a BJP delegation for a dialogue on the difficulty, sources mentioned. The determination to droop the agitation was taken on the assembly.
BJP chief and Sambalpur MLA Jayanarayan Mishra mentioned that the RDC assured them that he would take steps to resolve the problems.
“We have given a 72 hours ultimatum to the government. If these issues are not resolved and paddy is not procured from market yards by then, we will intensify our agitation,” he mentioned.
