Odisha school exams shrouded in uncertainty

BHUBANESWAR: Even as Class X and Plus two exams have been cancelled, uncertainty over conduct of examinations of under-graduate (UG) and post-graduate (PG) programs has emerged as a reason behind concern.The last 12 months examinations of UG and PG programs at Utkal University and its affiliated faculties are but to be held.
While the University remained shut for a short interval after circumstances surged within the second wave in April, the Higher Education division declared summer season holidays for a month. Though on-line courses have resumed, no choice has but been taken on pending UG and PG examinations elevating concern amongst hundreds of scholars of the University in addition to the 250 odd faculties affiliated to it.
Sources in Ramadevi Women’s University stated besides Plus III fifth semester and PG third semester examinations, the others are but to be carried out. “An internal meeting of the University will be held this week to decide about the examinations,” stated a senior official of the college. The Higher Education division has remained silent over the difficulty.
Meanwhile, a piece of scholars have began demanding cancellation of the pending exams in keeping with the choice taken by the School and Mass Education division. The college students stated delay in conduct of examinations is resulting in psychological stress at the same time as universities and faculties are functioning with restricted employees and courses are being held on-line for second 12 months in a row.
Higher Education division authorities couldn’t be reached for his or her feedback on the matter. However, sources within the division maintained that the officers are ready for UGC pointers to take additional choice on conducting the examinations. Besides, officers stated they can even have to attend for the choice of the State authorities because the Covid scenario in Odisha is but to enhance.
