Odisha cultural group opposes inclusion of state track in class syllabus

BALANGIR:  A day after the Board of Secondary Education notified inclusion of State track ‘Bande Utkala Janani’ as a part of the syllabus for Class IX and X throughout faculties in Odisha, the Koshal Rajya Samanwaya Samiti (KRSS) in Balangir has determined to stage demonstrations throughout all Western Odisha districts on June 29 protesting the transfer.  

Addressing mediapersons on the day, the KRSS  termed the choice as unconstitutional. KRSS member Sunil Purohit stated the State authorities is enjoying with the feelings of over two crore folks of Western Odisha. “Bande Utkala Janani was written by Kantakabi Laxmikanta Mohapatra for folks of Utkala as he belonged there and Utkala shouldn’t be the identical as Odisha.

At the time when the track was written, Utkala comprised Cuttack, Puri and Balasore. Koshal and Kalinga areas have completely different socio-cultural identities and due to this fact, inclusion of the track in class syllabus is unacceptable to folks right here. Hence the federal government can’t make it binding for all by together with the track in syllabus,” Purohit stated.

KRSS chief Pramod Kumar Mishra stated this resolution is not going to be accepted by folks of Koshalanchal. “This is human rights violation for us. We will fight against this by demonstrating across Western Odisha on June 29,” he stated.  The Odisha authorities final 12 months accorded State track standing to “Bande Utkala Janani.”
