Odisha: Fake Gutkha & Tobacco Products Worth Rs 10 Lakh Seized After Raids In Balasore

Balasore: The Special Task Force (STF) of Crime Branch on Sunday performed raids at two totally different locations in Jaleswar space, and seized gutkha and tobacco merchandise value over Rs 10 lakh.
Acting on a tip-off, a particular workforce of STF performed raids elsewhere of Jaleswar in Balasore district as a part of its crackdown towards unlawful storage, manufacture and sale of pretend tobacco (zarda) merchandise yesterday.
The workforce seized large portions of Gopal Zarda and different tobacco supplies from the possession of 1 Ashok Kumar Sahu of Rajpur space.
Later, the STF seized duplicate merchandise of Gopal Zarda following a raid at Station bazaar space in Jaleswar. One Chandan Chourasia has been detained on this connection.
“We have seized over two quintals of fake tobacco products worth over Rs 10 lakh following raids at two different places in the past 24 hours,” a senior official stated.
Senior STF officers stated that two separate circumstances underneath the Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 379,411,417 and part 20 of Cotpa Act have been registered and additional investigation on this connection is underway.
On January 23, Bhadrak police busted yet another duplicate chewing tobacco (Zarda) manufacturing unit at Chandakamahala space underneath Puruna Bazaar police limits. Huge amount of duplicate tobacco merchandise of reputed manufacturers, totally different chemical compounds and packing machines have been seized through the raid.
On November 23, 2020, a replica gutkha (tobacco) manufacturing unit working in a clandestine method on the Jagatpur Industrial Estate was busted by police in Cuttack.
