Odisha Govt Hikes Bus Fare For 2nd Time In Two Months – ODISHA BYTES

Bhubaneswar: In view of the steep rise in gasoline costs, the Odisha authorities on Wednesday hiked the fares for all classes of buses underneath the automated fare adjustment mechanism.
According to a notification issued by the Commerce and Transport Department, the fares of unusual and specific buses have been elevated by one paise per km, whereas that of deluxe and AC deluxe buses can be dearer by 2 paise per km.
The fare for the unusual bus will now be 74p/km as towards 73p/km and the fare for specific bus can be 77p/km as a substitute of 76p/km.
Besides, deluxe class buses will now cost Rs 1.09/km as towards Rs 1.07/km whereas passengers travelling in AC deluxe buses must pay Rs 1.31/km as towards the sooner Rs 1.29/km, the notification added.
However, there can be no increase within the fare of city buses within the state.
This is the second time after a niche of about one and a half months that the federal government has effected a hike within the bus fare. The authorities had elevated the bus fare on December 7 final 12 months.
