Odisha to get six new planetariums

BHUBANESWAR: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday introduced organising of six extra planetariums within the State and science centre in every of the 30 districts with an funding of Rs 100 crore.

Naveen made this announcement whereas laying the inspiration of a planetarium at Rayagada and a district science centre at Jeypore in Koraput district by video-conferencing. Besides, it has been determined to develop the Pathani Samanta Planetarium in Bhubaneswar right into a 3-D planetarium. 

The Chief Minister stated if humanity has reached the head of civilisation as we speak, it is because of science. Noting that science and growth are two sides of the identical coin, he stated the State is progressing in the direction of information economic system by way of science and know-how. He referred to as upon college students to nourish a scientific temperament to develop in life.

Thanking the Chief Minister for organising a science centre at Jeypore, Handlooms, Textiles and Handicrafts Minister Padmini Dian stated it’s excellent news for Koraput district. The centre will generate curiosity amongst college students about science, she added. After Bhubaneswar, Sambalpur has the second planetarium of the State. It was inaugurated by the Chief Minister in 2017.

Highlighting the measures taken by the federal government below the management of the CM to advertise science within the State, Science and Technology Minister Ashok Chandra Panda stated the locations the place the planetariums will come up embrace Baripada, Keonjhar, Gopalpur and Jeypore.
