Poacher with 7 kg porcupine meat nabbed whereas setting hearth in forest

BARIPADA:  Forest personnel nabbed an armed poacher who was attempting to set hearth to Machhakandana forest underneath Podadiha vary of Similipal South wildlife division and seized 7 kg porcupine meat from his possession on Wednesday evening.

From the possession of the poacher Antara Singh (23), a country-made gun was additionally seized. He hailed from Pandesahi village in Kaptipada.  Acting on a tip-off,  10 forest employees led by Podadiha vary officer Madan Mohan Mohanta reached Machhakandana forest and apprehended Singh who was attempting to hunt animals after poaching a porcupine. He was dropped at the vary workplace for interrogation.  

Mohanta stated the poacher admitted that he had set hearth at three locations within the forest. As the hearth unfold, a porcupine tried to flee and ran in direction of Singh who was hiding close by. He shot the animal. A case was registered in opposition to Singh underneath Wildlife Protection Act, 1972 and he was produced in Udala SDJM court docket.  

In the final 5 days, three individuals have been arrested for setting hearth in several forests. On Monday evening, Dudhiani vary officers in Karanjia division arrested a 22 year-old man from Gudidiha reserve forest and seized a match field and a rabbit web from his possession. The earlier evening, a 30 year-old man of Ambotalia village was arrested for setting hearth in Badampahar reserve forest.
