ROURKELA:  The Rourkela Municipal Corporation (RMC) appears to haven’t any speedy plan for underground cable ducting whilst erratic positioning of electrical and phone poles continues to trigger public nuisance and accidents.

While hanging overhead energy wires current an unpleasant image, there’s a fixed worry of charged energy wires getting snapped.  Sources mentioned provisions are being made for underground cable ducting below the Smart City Phase 2 undertaking for the remaining 5 km stretch of the Rourkela important street from UditNagar to Bisra Square. Work on 27 different roads with whole size of twenty-two km is underway.

Underground cable ducting, they mentioned,  is getting laid for essential roads of the luxurious Civil Township, Hanuman Vatika bypass street, Mahtab Road and connecting roads between the primary street and Mahtab Road, however there isn’t a speedy plan to implement the underground cabling undertaking because it entails large price issue.

Former chairman of the erstwhile Rourkela Municipality Ramesh Chandra Bal mentioned, these poles had been erected haphazardly many years again and with widening of roads, some posts now stand nearly on center of the roads at many locations to completely block the passageway and improve accidents.

“Six years after declaration of Rourkela as Smart City, urgent replacement of these poles with underground cabling has become a necessity,” Bal mentioned. The scenario is grim in inside lanes of the thickly populated Basanti Colony, Chhend Colony, Panposh and different residential areas.
