Relief For Odisha’s Visually Impaired Plus II Students, Braille Press To Finish Book Production By Feb End

Berhampur: Finally, the visually-impaired greater secondary college students in Odisha can eliminate audio tapes or the studying assistants because the Braille Press in Berhampur has begun manufacturing of textbooks for the sightless college students of Plus-II schools throughout the State.
The printing facility is anticipated to finish the printing of Literature, English, Political Science and History books prescribed by the State authorities for Arts stream, by the tip of February 2021.
Narasingha Nayak, a visually impaired scholar mentioned, “The Braille books will lessen the students’ burden. It is easy to cover the course by reading books rather than hearing the cassettes. They will acquire vast knowledge if books are available.”
Prakash Narayan Rath, Manager of the Braille Press mentioned, “This year, we have decided to produce textbooks on four subjects for the Plus-II first-year students. Most of the books are in the proof-reading stage. We have aimed to finish production of all books by February end.”
Till now, Braille textbooks have been solely out there for college kids of Class 1 to Class 10, whereas the blind college students within the schools have been pressured to cowl their syllabus by listening to classes from tape recorders. Further, the federal government reportedly has made a uniform syllabus for all varsities now. The German-manufactured machine which was procured at a price of Rs 1.18 crore, has a capability of printing 16 characters per second.
As introduced by the State authorities, Plus II examination this yr can be performed between May 15 and June 11.
