Srimandir redevelopment: Odisha Police register case in opposition to Puri Collector below AMASR

PURI:  Simhadwar police on Thursday registered circumstances in opposition to the Collector, Odisha Bridge Construction Corporation (OBCC) and supervisor of Tata Projects, the company executing the Jagannath temple heritage hall venture.

Acting on the path of the sub-divisional judicial Justice of the Peace (SDJM) of Puri, the circumstances have been registered below part 30-A and a pair of, b(c) of the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains (AMASR) Act, 1958.

The SDJM had directed Simhadwar police to register circumstances after listening to a grievance petition filed by legal professionals of Puri Bar Association alleging that work is being carried out illegally in violation of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) tips within the prohibited zone (100 mtr) of twelfth century Srimandir as a part of the Parikrama venture. 

On April 13, the legal professionals had lodged a grievance with Simhadwar police urging it to research the matter. Subsequently, they filed a case within the SDJM courtroom alleging that police didn’t settle for their grievance. They prayed the courtroom to direct the police to register a case or conduct listening to within the case.

The legal professionals had alleged that the administration was enterprise works of the Srimandir Parikrama venture with out acquiring essential permission from the ASI and National Monuments Authority (NMA). In their petition, in addition they alleged that building work in prohibited zone of the Centrally protected temple of nationwide significance is more likely to trigger hurt to its construction, they acknowledged. The legal professionals had sought prosecution of the Puri Collector, Tata Projects and OBCC, the nodal company of the venture.
