Tusker discovered useless in mango farm, one held by Odisha police

DHENKANAL: A 15-year-old tusker was discovered useless in a mango orchard at Gobindaprasad village in Odpada block right here on Sunday. 

It is suspected that the elephant died after coming involved with the photo voltaic fence erected across the mango farm. The farm proprietor, recognized as Biswajit Jena, has been arrested.

On being knowledgeable, forest officers led by DFO Prakash Chand Gogineni together with a veterinary staff rushed to the spot. 

The officers stated although no 11 KV line was noticed close to the place, the orchard was related to LT line. Jena was interrogated and postmortem carried out on the carcass.

The DFO stated, investigation is underway basing on native inputs. 

​Samples of the carcass have additionally been despatched to laboratory. Sources stated a herd of elephants cross the highway close to the orchard usually and infrequently feast on the mangoes.
