Two children tortured by mother and father rescued in Malappuram

MALAPPURAM: Residents of Mampad on Wednesday rescued a six-year-old lady and a three-year-old boy who have been being starved and tortured by their mother and father from a room in a constructing rented out to migrant labourers.
The Nilambur police arrested their father, Thankaraj, 35, and stepmother Mariyamma, 28, natives of Virudhachalam in Cuddalore district of Tamil Nadu. When the native residents broke into the room, the youngsters have been in a really weak situation. They have been unable to stroll correctly and have been drained due to the brutal assaults from the mother and father.
“The areas around the eyes of the girl were swollen. We also saw several injury and burn marks on the children,” stated Shehban Mampad, a resident.
