Politics in MP on UP government’s order: BJP’s retort on Priyanka Gandhi’s protest, Indore MLA said- Why did you put your name plate outside the office?

2 min read

Hemant Sharma, Indore. In the ongoing controversy over the decision of the Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh to “install the name board of the owner on the shops”, Indore BJP MLA Ramesh Mendola has launched a scathing attack on Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi. Responding to Priyanka Gandhi’s tweet, he shared the picture of the name board outside her office and raised many questions.

In her tweet, Priyanka Gandhi had called this decision of the Yogi government anti-constitutional and increasing discrimination. She had written that the decision to put up name boards in front of shops is wrong and it will increase discrimination in the society. In response to this, MLA Ramesh Mendola shared a picture of Priyanka Gandhi’s name board outside her office and asked that if you have an objection to asking for the name, telling it and putting up a name board, then why have you put up a name board outside your office?

Our Constitution guarantees every citizen that he will not be discriminated against on the basis of caste, religion, language or any other basis.

The divisive order to put up name boards of the owners of carts, kiosks and shops in Uttar Pradesh is an attack on our Constitution, our democracy and our shared heritage.

Society…

In his tweet, Mendola wrote, “Priyanka Gandhiji, if you have so much objection to asking for names, telling them and putting up a name board, then why have you put up a board with your name outside your room in the Congress office? If putting up a name board is discrimination, then you are doing it yourself.” He further wrote, “If someone does not know someone and he asks that person’s name, will it be discrimination or acquaintance? By the way, since when has asking someone’s name become discrimination? Is there anything called common sense left in the Congress or not?”

Mendola also said that the Constitution gives every person the right to know the name, address and mobile number of the person from whom he is buying goods. If a person is doing any work by hiding his name and identity, it means that he has something to hide. This is against both law and morality.

In the end, Mendola targeted the Congress and said, “You people should not bring the Constitution into every matter, it was your grandmother Indira Feroze Jahangir Gandhi who committed the sin of throttling the Constitution by imposing emergency.” This controversy has sparked a new debate in the political corridors. Now it remains to be seen what reactions come on this in the coming days.
