A case has come to light in Sonbhadra district which has stirred up the entire region. Here a person has played a big game of cheating by marrying nine different women. In this case, the accused not only married women, but also took out a loan of lakhs of rupees in their name. The case came to light when a woman lodged a complaint against the accused before the police. After this, the police started the investigation and found that the accused had implicated many women in their net.
Conspiracy to target women
Accused Rajan Gehlot targeted women who were alone and were earning good money in government jobs or business. He married these women and took a loan in their name and then left them and disappeared. In some cases, he also produced children with women, but later refused to recognize them. The case came to light when a teacher from Santakbir Nagar lodged a complaint at Robertsganj Kotwali.
Teacher’s painful story
The teacher told the police that he is working as an assistant teacher in Santakbir Nagar. She was married earlier too, but she was living with her mother after her divorce. Meanwhile, Rajan Gehlot contacted him through an acquaintance of his father and proposed marriage. Both of them married Hindu customs in front of Annapurna Devi in Vishwanath temple in Banaras. After marriage, Rajan got a loan of about 41 lakh rupees in the name of child’s education and buying land in Lucknow. After this, he disappeared as an excuse for transfer.
When the teacher tried to find out at her address in Lalitpur, it was found that there is no employee or officer of that name. He then approached Rajan, but threatened that his job would go away if a police complaint was made. Later, when he gathered more information, it was found that Rajan had also married many other women.
Three women accused
So far, three women have made allegations against Rajan Gehlot in this case. One of them is a teacher, while two other women also came in the same kind of deception. All the women told that Rajan married her and took out a loan in her name and then disappeared. The police have filed a case against Rajan under fraud and other sections in this case and investigation is on.
Police investigation continues
In Robertsganj Kotwali, ASP Kalu Singh said that a case has been filed against Rajan Gehlot of Sahijan village on the Tahrir of a woman resident of Santakbir Nagar. The police have started an investigation immediately in view of the seriousness of the matter. The investigation so far has revealed that Rajan has married at least nine women and has taken out a loan of lakhs of rupees in his name. Police believe that more women may be involved in this case.
Use of wedding dot com
Investigation has also revealed that Rajan also performed some marriages through websites like Shaadi.com. He targeted alone and successful women by creating his profile on these websites. After marriage, he would take out a loan in his name and then disappear. Such cases have been revealed earlier, but Rajan’s case is shocking because he implicated many women in his web simultaneously.
Women’s difficulties increased
The difficulties of the women involved in this case increased further when they came to know that a loan of lakhs of rupees has been withdrawn in their name. Now they have not only hurt them emotionally, but they are also financially in great difficulty. Some women also have children, whose responsibility is now being taken up alone. The police have assured the women that it will investigate the matter deeply and leave no stone unturned to punish the accused.
Questions in society
This matter raises a big question in the society how a person can cheat many women so easily. Is there any shortage in our system regarding the safety of women and their rights? The case has once again sparked a debate that strict rules should be made on online wedding platforms so that such fraudsters can be stopped.
Further action
Police has formed teams to arrest Rajan Gehlot in this case. Also, all women who may be a victim of Rajan are being contacted. Police say she is taking the matter seriously and will try to punish the accused as soon as possible.
The case has once again proved that women should be aware of their safety and be cautious to avoid any kind of deception. Also, the society and the government should also seriously consider such matters so that such incidents can be stopped in future.
